Tora Frank and Heather Hazelwood established the nonprofit Exceptional Kids Yoga Project, which offers free yoga classes for children with developmental disabilities. These classes promote physical autonomy and emotional empowerment through the practice of yoga. One of the original purposes of these yoga classes was to give caregivers and parents a short respite. The yoga classes have become beneficial for families who enjoy the the interaction with each other in a safe and comfortable environment.
A recent fundraiser raised more than $4000, money that helps offer services free of charge, increase attendance and schedule more classes. For more information, volunteer policy and class schedules call 608-807-0801 or visit ekyp.org.
